Unfortunately I haven't dined at Aladdin's since the refurb, but every visit before that was a pleasant one. The decor was a bit old but very clean and smart looking with subtle lighting and lots of plants. There is a small bar against one of the walls. It's not usually busy at all, this is mainly because it sits on the outskirts of town and people tend to dine in the centre. The staff have always been more than helpful and very friendly. There is a small surcharge for bringing your own drinks (which is advisable as when I have been they have only been serving Indian beers and lagers, yuk).. I have heard rumours that this has changed now though.

The temperatures of the dishes have gradually increased over the years so I would advise to go for something slightly cooler than you normally would, or ask the chef to make it less spicy. The onion bhajis are always superb as is the naan bread, perfect consistency and flavour. Overall I think this is a fab restaurant and takeaway, it's always been cheap, the dishes are not far from perfect and side orders are in my opinion are delicious.

My husband usually orders Chicken Dopiaza, which he usually enjoys but on occasions has tasted slightly bland. I usually order Chicken Tikka Madras, which is creamy smooth and very tasty but has recently become too hot for me to eat, I have now changed to Tikka Masala which is also very creamy but can be a bit on the sweet side after half a plate. Chicken Tikka Biriani was nearly faultless, apart from the chicken at the time being a bit tough, the omelette was cooked to perfection and the complimentary salad was fresh and very slightly spiced. Lemon Chicken Balti is quite a mild dish but can taste a bit too lemony and acidic. My takeaway experience with Aladdins always pleases me, I get heaps for my money and always end up with added extras which I wasn't expecting, you also get lots of freebies if you order over a certain amount. My takeaways have always been delivered promptly and still hot. Altogether I think this is a great restaurant and takeaway, with a couple of small flaws but overall, good value, top quality and always satisfying.
